2001 Too slow!!!!!

I own a 01 MAX SE. For some reason the car is getting slower. I have cleaned the TB twice and it helps a lot but since the last time I did this the car is getting slower. I have 71K on it. What should I do? I race a GTI Turbo and I was ahead of him for most of the race. I have K&N with the factory box, and a bypass of the MAS that works like a honey. Can someone tell me or give some ideas on what is happening?

THanks

the problem is the auto gear box. Its just killing the 3.0 on the 00/01. I know for a fact that my 01 is slow. If you have an WAI intake, that will also take out the power in the low end just like you mentioned on the highway at 50-60mph.

Changing the plugs will do a lot, so def get that done. replace maybe the air filter?

I just installed a set of NGK Iridium IX plugs on my 2k maxima, and they work like a dream.

go with ngk plugs. whether plats or copper is up to you. coppers burn hotter, cost less but need to replaced more often. i replace mine every 15k or so. plats will last longer but cost more. coppers run 1.59 @ advance auto and i think they sell plats around 9 bucks or so. just make sure to use a thin spread of anti seize on the plugs and its also a good idea to use a little dielectric grease on the inside of the boot of the coil.

So, today I cleaned the TB again with CRC TB cleaner. I'll try it tommorow and see what happen. I like to change the CATback on the car but want to have a growling sound coming form the exhaust. It is an automatic and will probably sound like an Accord with the huge pipes. I want to keep it clean but just a little sound will not kill me.

Any suggestions?

It could be the more frequent use of your AC. My 2000 Max 5sp is noticeably slower with the AC or Defroster on. Sometimes it just seems to labor through the gears.

Also, warmer spring/summer air will sap some of the power from the engine.

Just some thoughts.

Good Luck,
