calling all vq35 owners

Hey

I have a i35 but since I need a quick response im posting my question here....(not the i35 section)

I was wondering if anyone knows what this part is.... Last night I came home and heard a buzzing/humming sound. It sounds like a small motor/pump trying to work but cant turn....

It wouldnt turn off, so i disconnected the battery and it stopped. This morning I was going to take it to my mechanic so I connected the battery and I saw this ball of smoke come up... I disconnected the battery and checked to see where it came from...

The smoke came from the area around the front MOTOR mount... Im pretty sure it came out of the motor mount... but How could that be possible? its just a mount... So i looked under the car and saw a wire running into the mount... but I cant see inside the mount since its so dark...

Does anyone know what this wire does? The one that runs into the mount? I also noticed that the Fan doesnt turn on after i turn off the car... but when i turn it on the fan just kicks in right away... Im guessing this was some sort of motor for the cars fan?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You have an electronically controlled motor mount. You're analysis is correct. Your motor mount is shot.

Why in the world would you want a electronic motor mount???
Whats the use? I just spoke with the dealer and they said its $222...

I could see the use of soild motor mounts rather than Rubber... but electronic? Does it actually adjusts was the motor moves back?

ARE all the mounts electonic?
My car is not under warranty anymore... and it only has 18k miles
but couldnt I just roll around with the shot out mount? I see a wire leading from the mount up to the engine... Im guessing it calculates how much to adjust the mount by the engines rev's?

Thanks for the link bro... i guess my problem is the motor mount... maybe 2 mounts. Do you have any idea for me to test out if its 1 mount or more that have died?

The sound does come from the back of the engine... I guess its the rear mount thats the broken one... but im not sure....

Also if I remove the fuse for the mounts... do you think it would make a big difference? IE with the motor moving forward/back that much? Im guessing its electronic to help keep the cabin noise to a minimum?

Or should I just take the car to the stealership and have them replace it (mounts)?

Does anyone have an idea?

pay the big fees at the stealership or just pull the fuse for the mounts?
