Maxima Twin Halo Projector Headlights

I just got some twin halo projector headlights (black) on ebay, tight lights, but the wiring is comepletely different. Does anybody know if it is for another year, or if it is for japanese models?

I don't get why people with 02' 03' maximas get these headlights when our factory ones are 100x's better.

I agree with wildmanl but I think I saw in an earlier post that those headlights are actually for the 2000 and 2001 models.

I can think of 2 reasons:
1) cost
2) don't last very long before they are taken

Seth

P.S. The beam pattern on the later model HID's is not that impressive. I'm sure the aftermarket halogen pattern is bad, although I have yet to see it in person or someone take a picture of it next to a wall at night, but I wouldn't say that its 100X better since the OEM halogen beam pattern is technically better (I know because I owned both and did the blank wall test), but the HID throws off more lumens so it has a sluightly better range even with the weaker reflector shape.

Ok, to get back on topic here... yes, the wiring is for 2000 & 2001 plus extra wires for the angel eyes. I know there is a wiring harness for us halogen guys to upgrade to the HIDs, but I haven't heard of any that go from HID to halogen. Check the GD section... I think there is a fairly long post about these lights.

Oh, you may also have a gap under the new lights since the 2k2-2k3s were slightly different.

Yes.. you are going to have a gap..

I knew the 2k2/2k3 headlights were different, because when i installed the sarona, i noticed the kit was suited for a 2k/2k1, and i was left with stupid gaps and overhangs over my kit.

I think it will loook a bit funny on a 2k2 front bumper.

You'll have a gap and most likely you will not have high beams either..

I wouldn't get these for an 02-03, but it's not a bad cheaper alternative for 00-01's. If you do the Valeo retrofit like PhxBlue, then it's all good...

I have a 2000 Maxima but I am putting the 02-03 bumper I want to make sure that there wont be a big gap like people talk about when put on a 02 maxima.

I saw PhxBlue's car with the ebay projecters and I dont really see a big gap... maybe because the cars black.

Here is what the 2002 bumper looks like with 2001 headlights.

You can see the gap, but all it looks like is a poorly fitted aftermarket piece even though its all OEM.

Most people have this car in one of 3 colors:
silver, white, black.
Occasionally there will be the blue one. GLE's I see in tan alot.
Here's one in white:

Although whoever installed this guys headlights didn't do it properly. They didn't fit the 'hook' at the bottom of the headlight into its slot, so it is sitting 'on' the frame, not 'in' the frame. Looks odd that way. But they did it properly for the passenger side.

Remember, its 'incorrect' on the white car, its 'correct' on the silver car.

Seth

P.S. You can see they went in through the door handle on the white car.
I should probably knock on this guys door to tell him his lights aren't installed properly, he's probably blinding oncoming traffic.
