Driving the Max from CT to FL in 2 weeks

I'm taking a road trip with a couple friends from CT to FL the last week of May. My car currently has 40700 miles on it. I changed the oil at 38600. By the time I get back, the car should have around 44000 miles on it. I use Mobile 1 synthetic 5w30. Should I change it before I leave? Should I switch to 10w30 for the FL heat and driving for 17 hours straight? Anything else I should check out or do before I take this trip?

I would change the oil JIC, better be safe than sorry. It is a pretty long drive form CT to FL and then back here + all the cruising around FL. Also check the coolant fluid, etc...take it to your mechanic for a quick check up

5w30 is fine, i drive all year (and hard) on it and it performs perfectly. Mobil1 5w30 is comparable to a mineral oil 10w40.

Also, like slickrick, I am curious as to where youre goin in FL...

I drove to FLA last year, and i had an oil change before and after i got back. Drove all around Orlando, Tampa, Miami. If you want there are tons of jiffylubes everywhere and you could get one on the way or while your down there. The MAX is one of the best road trip cars out there.

Just make sure to check your tire pressures regularly, and watch out for the MAD thunderstorms.

Yup You are correct about Maxima is one of the road trip cars. Last year about the same time I did a road trip on my old GLE, 2000 GLE (lease return) Anyway She handled great! From NEW YORK to CALIGORNIA in 2 weeks.... 8000 MILES ALL together...
