Which Muffler?

Hey I ave a 2000 Maxima SE and I do not have any exhaust or air intake at all. I am looking for a muffler with a nice sound to it, but not too ricey like a 4cyl. honda sound or anything. I also don't want one with a big cheesy lookin coffee can size opening for a tip either. If anyone has any opinions on this I would appreciate it, Thanks

Alot of the Org members go with the Greddy Evo, or Evo2 exhaust, it is very popular among Maxima enthusiast. HKS also has a deep throaty sound as well.
Dyno max has a nice sound to it , but the quality is below par , cheapest of the exhaust system or muffler. If i was just going for sound, probally a dynomax muffler, if it was sound and quality, Greddy Evo 2 all the way!

is the greddy Evo 2 a exhaust system or just the muffler. And about how much does this cost and where can I find it.

PowerTech

Thats how it comes, The 1011 has 3.5" tips and the 1012 has 4" tips. I went with the 1011 to keep it looking as stock as possible. I felt the 1012 with the 4" tips was way to big looking.

The Greddy Evo system cost anywhere from $450-$500 dollars. The muffler by itself will cost you anywhere from $125-$150. To me i would save for the whole cat back system, this way you get some Hp and Trq to boot and have some nice sound.

Are you happy with the sound? When on a highway is there a loud humm from inside the car at all?

A Little Bit

theres a Little Deep Humming but then again, if you had a G35 Coupe, 350Z or any other Throaty car like a Vette, Mustang you will hear the same Little Rumble while driving. It doesn't bother me at all, I actually like the sound alot.

Now you only have this muffler, no other exhaust work or intake or anything? Also with the muffler have you noticed better mpg at all?

in my opinion, i would go with cattman. It's all stainless steel so it should last the lifetime of the car. it's probably going to be a bit more expensive, but i beleive that this is a case of you get what you pay for.

as far as sound, i have a cattman y-pipe, high flow cat, and a full cattman cat-back setup and it sounds awesome. definatly doesn't sound like a riced out civic or anything. it can be loud at times, but alot of that is due to the fact that i also have a y-pipe. if you're just getting a cat-back or muffler, it shouldn't be that loud.
hope this helps

Anybody tried the Frankencar muffler. It looks pretty nice and they say that it's pretty quiet and 2 1/2 inch inlet. Just curious, cuz I want quiet also.

Powertech seems to be a popular choice. Less than $100 and people seem to like the sound.

$99 Powertech

The PowerTech is also Stainless Steel and best of all its a seamless muffler which makes it sweet to look at!! Others have a weld down the middle which makes it look cheap and gives it a chance of rusting.

very good pull. i'm very happy with the setup. i've had this setup for probably 10 months so i am pretty used to it now. I think i would be horrified if i had to go back to stock.

but in all seriousness, i remember when i first drove it how much more power it had, but more importantly, the drivability was 10 folds better. it took away alot of the stumbling and lurching that i had at low end (i drive a 5 spd)and it no longer feels as if it was breathing thru a straw at high end. if i had to do it over again, the only thing that i would do differently is that i would get the cattman headers instead of the y-pipe. more power makes me happy..haha

This is a good webiste IMO. Very different set-ups. My favorite is the b-pipe with no resonator matched with stock exhaust. Check them all out.

Want a quiet muffler that is free flowing?
www.frankencar.com

They say it's pretty heavy. If I ever get a muffler it will be the franken or cattman muffs.
