I think my max is trying to kill me

Every single time I get out of my car I get shocked. WTF?!?! I tried putting my finger on the ignition while getting out and I just get shocked worse. And its not just me. People who ride with me feel the wrath too. Why?? I never did the max any wrong.
Most importantly, what can I do to reduce the static electricity?

from what I've heard the cause of that problem is a bad ground somewhere in the vehicle. Not 100% sure though.

I think the real cause is invisible Zeus, the invisible god of lightning hiding in my car waiting for the moment I step out of my car and touch his hiding domain. Now I need a way to find invisible Zeus in my car and kill him dead. Any suggestions?

Maybe this will help. In winter(when you're more likely to develop the static electricity that will shock you), after you open the door but before you get out of the car touch your hand against the outside metal on the door. Stay in contact with the metal until you are full out of the car with both feet on the ground. There is no shock when you do this.

If it were a demon I would think that it would have tried to burn me with fire from Hades but since its electricity I believe its either Zeus or the evil anti-grounding monkey. To slay either will take all my strength and wit.
But seriously, if I have a bad ground somewhere would a ground-wire kit help. I don't want to look like an a$$ everytime I step out of my car, holding it... How do I explain that to my dates? "Yeah baby, thats just the electro-goblin hiding in my glovebox..." Ridiculous

My Max does the same thing. Every time I get out of the car, there's static. I thought it was because of the cloth interior, but it doesn't happen with anyone else's car I know. I heard you can use static guard on your interior to help...I haven't tried it.

The same damn thing happens to me every time I get out of the car. The worst time was when I got out and reached for the trunk release and ZAP! That one made my finger numb for a while. I've got it down to a science now. I carefully get out with out touching any metal and close the door by the window. One time while return a video at Hollywood Video I managed to get out without getting shocked but then when I reached for the little metal door to drop the video in the slot I still got it. Not as strong of a shock though. I've had the the spark jump and get my in the leg or butt before too. I think it's kind of funny. My girlfriend always gets a good shock. Sometimes she yells. I think the bigger the butt the stronger the shock

Plus, if you have the crappy cloth seats, they are not very forgiving, especially during the winter. At least my 01 Altima cloth seats weren't.

I never had a problem with my leather interior tho.

Be real careful when you're at the gas pumps. Unless you live in NJ that is, where we can't pump our own gas and insurance rates suck.

Before I found the solution, I always get zapped, especially when it's dry and bright outside. I have leather seats and yes, I still got zaps.

This is the solution:

As you open the door, put your hand (5 fingers) on the door sill. The key is to touch bare metal. More contact area = better. Exit slowly if it's dry and bright outside. Try it.

After doing the above, I never got zaps.

BTW, no...... grounding kit won't help any, because your *** are rubbing the seats, causing the zaps.

yup, investigators have postulated that it's the static that caused several gas station fires.

at least NJ has the cheapest gas in the nation

I get zapped too. Best way I deal with it is get out and touch your leg to car. That zap doesn't hurt as much as the fingers. Best part is getting out at night and seeing how far you can be away from door to get zapped.

I have learned form these electrical shocks.....all you have to do is hold the frame of the door while getting out and hold it until you are ready to close it.....i think this happens only with us CLOTH Seaters

This is really weird; I’ve never had a problem like this before, but I have leather. Aren’t Honda’s notorious for this? If I recall, they used to (I don’t know if they still do) coat the inside of the tires with silicone. Has anyone tried this?

Today I was filling up ($33.42 or $2.39 per gal...a real bargin) when I my pinky got zapped on the nozel after I was done filling up. I usally get out of the car and touch something before I reach for the nozle but this time I hopped back in my car while I was pumping and hopped back out after it finished and forgot to touch something before the nozle. Oops I am alive to tell about it. Didn't MythBusters do a show on this? No wait I think that was talking on a cell phone and pumping gas at the same time.

try gettin a hyper grounding kit, if and when the kit reduces the resistance in the car it might reduce the chance of gettin zeus's bolt up your wazzoooo
