Final results of my "performance" upgrades.

Over the last 6 weeks I've made some changes in my 2000 I30 with some very positive results. Thought I'd pass them along in case anyone is considering similar changes and are on the fence:

1. SES P1320 code. Replaced all six coils: All pinging gone, and power greatly improved. Runs better than new. Feeling of power loss as car is shifting between 1 and 2, and 2 to 3rd is gone. Improved MPG by 2 (18.5 to 20.5 city)

2.Install updated MAF: Improved idle and smoother acceleration. Some peace of mind knowing the updated MAF is more reliable.

3. Install Berk intake with K&N: Nice growl. Whistle sound that I could take or leave. Much quicker throttle responce. RPMs seem to more freely and quickly increase from 2,500 to 4,500 under acceleration. Looks nice.

4. Change to Mobil 1 synthetic ATF: Did this by disconnecting the line to the cooler and changing 2 qts at a time (6 times). What a mess, but worth it. All delay in shifting (noticed since car was new) from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 is gone. At times can't even feel the shifts, which were very noticable before. The delay under WOT from 1 to 2 is greatly improved.

With each change I disconnected the battery to "reset" the ECU. I have notice the car seems more responsive each day it is driven since the last change. Almost like it is learning. Since the car is now running better than when I bought it new, the above were worth it and easy to do, even for a novice like me!
