Why don't are maxes come with....

maintenance-free batteries, I just got made fun of by my dad who owns an 04 impala, for having a battery at this year in date that i need to add water to?

I'm not going to let my dad rip on my max?!?!

You can easily rebutt your dad by just pointing at the piece of junk he's driving because the battery is going to be the least of his problems.

Because maintenance free batteries cost a lot. An aquantance just changed his after 7 years... 160$. That's only for the part itself. That's why.

So far my water 'consuming' stocker looks and performs great after 4 years, and only costs 30$.

I mean it really doesn't bother me, you only have to check the water level like once a year right?

and yeah my dad amazes me, he had a bunch of problems with his 00 implala so he goes out and buys and 04, same car?!?! i was like your kidding me right??
My dad is funny though when he works on my car with me, he always talks jappenese since all the notes and stickers under the hood is in that language ahha.

I doubt he will be taking extreme angles rock crawling in his maxima anytime soon, or worrying about rolling over. There are plenty of batteries with more CCA's than Optima's.

Interstate makes a really good battery, and Costco has some with massive CCA's aswell.

Personally I have a 3 year old Kirkland Signature Battery which has been fully drained and recharged over 3 dozen times , and it still tests out at the same specs as it did when it was new.

The only thing optimas have is they wont leak if they are inverted/you can mount them anyway you like, and you cant kill them by pouring baking soda into one of the cells. There are plenty of other spiral cell/gel batterys out there aswell that are much cheaper and just as good.

well since my stock battery is only about two years old, i'm keeping it til it dies, I would rather by something else then a battery for my car.

You don't have to wait until your battery is dead to add water. Keeping it low on acid only prematurely breaks down the cells.

Standard batteries have a life expectancy of 5 years anyway.
