jic coilovers
jic coilovers
I purchased a set secondhand, and upon arrival, one of the springs is way loose. the lower spanner ring that holds the spring in place is about a half inch lower than the opposite side, and the spring is not securd. my question is, do I just compress the spring enough to get the rings snug underneath the spring?
I have contacted jic so far, and I am about to contact the seller.

Yes just move the ring up till the spring is snug then tighten it down, down go up too far or you will compress the spring. That is all you need to do. Make sure though that you measure the distance of the the top and bottom rings on both struts to make sure they are equal length.
ok, I must have misunderstood your post. I thought I needed a spring compressor, but upon discussion with a friend that had loaned me some spanner wrenches said that I do not need to compress the springs, which I had assumed.
so all I have to do is bring the upper ring to the coil so that it is touching, and snug up the lower ring to lock the rings together?

you need to bring the lower ring up so that its touching, but even further so that it is lining up with the other front coilover...they should be the same. then bring the other ring up to tighten it up
