Custom Maxima FSTB fitment on 2k2...

I just got the Custom Maxima FSTB and I was just wondering what people are doing to get it to fit properly on 02's and 03's. I have the stock intake and I think that's the biggest problem. It's totally pushing down the airbox and would need a lot more clearance. I can see the left bracket also running into some piping, but I know people have been filing down the bracket for that. So is there anyone with the stock intake and this FSTB? It would need a lot of washers under the bracket for it to clear the airbox. Also how is everyone adjusting the bar itself? Is it supposed to be dead center or is it screwed on more towards the left or the right?

I had no problems with any brackets. The only thing I have a problem with is my intake. I have the stock mid section and the Apex'I filter which hits the bar. I don't think that will affect anything. Hope that helps.

Do you have the stock intake?

Nobody else has an FSTB with the stock intake?

I took a short video clip of what was happening when I tried installing the FSTB. It's kind of dark, but I have the bar attached only to the driver's side bracket and I'm pushing it down from the passenger side. You can see it's completely pushing down the intake.

Here's the video

I figured out why it was doing this. The driver's side bracket is bent downward (on the left).

Check out the poor craftsmanship of this bracket:

It's barely connected.

I bought this FSTB from another ORG member with a 4th gen Max who ordered the wrong bar. He said it was in brand new condition, never installed. I'm taking his word for it. You think CM will replace the bracket(s) or at least sell me some new ones?

Nice job in finding the problem, what has Custom Maxima said, or what are they doing about it, keep us in the loop.

yes, i received mine damaged in shipping and they just sent me another bracket and i sent the bad one back to them. Don't know what they will do in your situation. I would say that bent bracket is definately your problem. mine only clears the intake by 1/2-3/4 of an inch.
