Ever Race A Lex GS300?

Ive got the VQ30 and I think it would be pretty close. What do you guys think? I imagine the 3.0 I6 puts out more torque, not to mention RWD, but I think my top-end is higher.

Ive got a girl I work with talkin **** about my car, so I thought I would make her put her money where her mouth is... On the track of course. It would be auto vs. auto. Im pretty sure she is stock. Im telling her it would be close, but she swears that she would blow me away

What do you guys think? I wish we could take it to a road course. I would tear her up with my new suspension setup

I once got beat by a girl in a mid-90sRX7 with a twinturbo. It was embarassing. I no longer will run against females.

I told her I would ablige, but she says that she dosent want to "ruin her tires" Yeah sure, she's just afraid of the VQ power

Yeah, the 430 would not be a good fight to pick. Like the time I thought Id muscle a mustang...Oops... Turns out is was a debadged SVT Cobra. 390 supercharged horses. That was embarasing.

Well. Cosidering it's RWD and has a Supra na engine. It's much more suited to "racing" than a heavy FWD maxima will ever be. Also Toyota auto trannies seem to be more suited to handling more power than Maxima autos. Same can be said for their manual trannies also. Much easier to turbo the GS300, than a maxima. TT is of course easily possible but singles are much more common.

but read what u wrote there trannies are suited to handle more power if the car had more power but stock to stock it doesnt matter which trannie can handle more its just gonna get smoked anyway the max will take it on the track hands down. and about the turbo nissan motors are bascily N/A motors thats y they make superchargers.

IBTL.

Closer than you think. You're probably running high 15's, and those boats probably running low 16's. I personally wouldn't race a 300, but salivate at any encounter with a 4xx from a dig.

Let her win. Tell her if she wins, you pay for night out dinner and movie. If you win, she can pick up.

Here are the specs for the GS300
The 3.0-liter engine produces 220 horsepower and Lexus claims it can propel the GS 300 from 0 to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds and through the quarter mile in 18.8 seconds. That's brisk performance, but don't expect to win many drag races. It earns an 18/25 mpg City/Highway rating from the EPA, which is average for the class.

Newlove has a 2000 I30 and I assume auto. I30s were heavier than their maxima counterparts. I think the maxima would win, but it wouldn' t be a slaughter.

And my comments you refer to is to the gentlement that stated "the GS300 is not "suite" for racing". It's much more suite to racing than the maxima will ever be.

I don't know what you mean by "turbo nissan motors are basicly na motors". Ah, na nissan motors are na. Turbo nissan motors are turbo. If anything the 2JZ Toyota na engine is more of a "turbo" motor than the VQ is. Since this motor came in NA and Turbo configurations in the USA and in OEM form. The only oem vq turbo motor cannot be directly transplanted into the maxima and it wasn't available in the usa.

the gs 300 is lucky to get in teh 15's cuase its constinly running 16's low and the max stays either in teh high 15's or mid 15's so its not as close as u think.

i wasnt talking about which turbo motor is better we are talking about these 2 cars and the VQ motor is more of a na motor so of course its easier to turbo the gs300, and the 300 is not more suited to race then the max sorry cuase if it were there would be alot more on the street and i dont see many, now the 400 on the other hand is suited and i do see many many of them hooded up.

run from a roll. with a highway pull, she will not have to worry about ruining tires. (haha) just be careful running someone that you do not trust.

SCC ran an article about a guy with a rare 5 speed '93 SC300 modded to hell and back, it was sick. Same engine as the GS300.

i got 03 max Injen Cai thats it and on the highway at about 50mph me and a 400 lined up we both hit it to the ground it was pretty close we were neck to neck but i started to pull of slowly so a 300 would be a piece of cake !
