driver window squeals on the way up. FIX???

My driver window squeals on the way up. the squeak is kinda loud so its annoying. There might even be a TSB for it. I have a 2001 AE. Anyway i can just pull the door off and throw some lube in there without having a dealership fix it? any ideas would be much appreciated.

My Dad's 2000 SE does that aswell, I was going to take a look at it but he's always driving it, lol.

I think some lithium grease on the rails might fix it

Not lithium grease, but some graphite lube at Autozone for 2.99 a tube.

i think someone on an earlier thread mentioned applying silcone lubricant. It is a dry lubricant, which should be a applied on the vertical track of the window closest to the middle pillar.

I have a 2000 SE, and my driver door does the same thing. Is there only one place that you're supposed to apply the lubricant?

Nope. All you have to do is: roll the window down and spray the lube inside the vertical part (track) of the open window. Roll the window back up and down a couple of times to work it in and that should do the trick. If you go the parts dept at Nissan and ask them, they'll hook you up. It's only a couple of bucks for a whole can. Not sure what kind of silicon you have at your house, but better to be safe than sorry.

Roll the window up all the way. Clean it as best you can on both sides. Get some silicon spray and spray it on the glass, then wipe it down.

You can get the silicon spray can from Nissan (even Toyota sells it for less than $10).

Peace.

that Nissan sells. Couple bucks for the can. I used it on all windows and everywhere else. Same thing the dealer uses.

I've been having this problem for about a year now...just too lazy to do anything about it. Let me tell you, it sure doesn't impress a girl when you go to roll up your window.

Hey, you should keep the can in the car. After you impress that girl with your silent windows, maybe you could use a little on her Squeeek, Squeeek!!! LOL

Do your windows squeek all the way up? Mine just gives a little squeek from the weather stripping at the top of the window.

I'm also glad it's not just me, I have the same problem on my drivers side door. I'm going to have to try this, but does the Silicone leave a residue on the window after you apply it?

I used the silicone spray a couple of months ago and it still leaves a horizontal line where the window is stopped when rolling down. I am going to try the graphite next time.

Well it leaves silicone...

But, you spray it in the tracks, where the glass slides. So you never acutally see anything left over.

It just goes in the tracks of the window. You won't have a pool of it at the bottom of your door, if that's what you mean. You will never see the spray on the glass since it just goes in the tracks. This is the easiest thing ever.

It Worked!!!!

I stopped in @ a local Toyota dealer yesterday, grabbed a can of the silicone spray, cleaned my window, lowered it, sprayed it in the tracks, let it sit for about a minute, rolled it back up and ureaka!!!! That irritating squeaking is gone, not too mention there is no excess silicone (that I can see) on the window!!! Thanks for the help guys!!! :-D
