Knocking, banging in front end....

My 2003 6 speed SE has been making a low frequency knock banging when transiting over rough pavement and it seems to be getting worse, had it on a lift and found nothing amiss. Motor/transmission mount possibly, anyone else experience this?

Possibly a bad sway bar link. Try twisting them both by hand (temporarily removes the ball joint slop) and see if the noise goes away for a little while.

Did you have the lower control arm recall done? That might fix the issue.

I looked around and can't find a service bulletin on this issue for a 2003, could you direct me to it, as my dealer really doesn't keep abreast of such things. Thanks in advance.

You can check Nissan's webssite but you are right, that recal is for 01-02 Maxes. Did you take out one of the Nissan tecs to hear what the car is doing? They can install chassis ears on the car to listen to what's going on and pinpoint it. You should still be under warranty.

Good luck.

P.S. Does this happen when you are driving in a straight line?

Yes it does and it is still under warranty, I just didn't want to subject myself to the pain of bringing it in repeatedly until they found it. They do a much better job when I tell them whats wrong.
