Ok guys, after reading all of the commotion about the WRX i went and drove one. They are not much, if any faster than our Maxxes. The 2.0 has no torgue and the turbo is barely noticable, of course it is doing something because the car is at 227 hp but it is a linnear turbo so it is constant. As for the handling that is a different story. The car out handles a stock SE, comparing to my 2k1 SE, by an impressive amount. The seating is more of a Sparco, Recarro type with excellent side bolsters. They hold you in, for a stock production car they r impressive. The 5spd tranny is also smoother and a short throw shifter is an option. So in summary you would have to launch the WRX off the line very hard to take us but I don't believe the would eat us up. So again I reiterate, go get em, don't be scared to get trompped on cuz you won't be. Also there is the driver factor too. We do have a guy in here that got beat by a stock MB 230, and his sister no less.

I still have faith that the aftermarket will take advantage of the turbo and free up the exhaust and intake and make those cars smoke most maxes. There is a carb before the exhaust even hits the turbo.. if something can be done about that I bet there'd be nice gains.

Egads... bitten by negative equity again. They offered me a whopping 18k on trade in. To get the WRX on a 36 month lease... 3k down and ~600/month... I couldn't do that to myself.

The car was fun to drive... seats a little hight.. the seat is height adjustable.. I may have had it at it's highest. Clutch was light and easy to use. The power was nice and easy to get to and the engine is fun to rev. It felt like there was more body roll than in my max?? Overall it was more fun than the max but would need some mods and the max definately has a nicer interior.

n/m [/QUOTE You know what i like seeing, we are all Max owners but we at least have the open mindedness to appreciate a well conceived sports car. Sorry Redline but the Subaru is a great car. Hp, handling, and all 4 tires putting power to the ground. Punkdork, I thought the Sube had a little less body roll than my max, or maybe it was just when it went to a certain point it just gripped and went. I teel you guys I do like our v6 better, more torque, and that v6 growl when u romp on it. The max is staying in the family but living in NH and being able to use the throttle in ALL weather conditions is very enticing. My wife wanted me to do up her Focus but I think she may end up with the max, get that Ford p.o.s out of my driveway. Hey I don't want to hear anything about it, she thought it was "cute". ARGH!!!!!!!!

Well I do have an RSB... so that adjusts mine.. plus I have an SE... maybe it was just that I was shifting again.. or maybe the height of the seating compared to the max?

Another way of looking at is that if you have a modified you max, then of course the WRX ain't going to seem as fast. But I'm sure if I compair it to my GLE auto, it would be alot faster. Anyways 0-60 at 5.9 (wrx) vs 6.9 I doubt you can feel the difference much. I would rather have 4 wheel drive anyday. But I didn't like the fit and finish of the RS2.5 I drove way back when I was compairing cars b4 I desided on the max. Everything felt very cramped Kinda like sitting in a Civic or a Corolla in size. So the back seats were useless to me.
