Dash Trim Kit Installation
Dash Trim Kit Installation
Anybody had any experience installing the molded or flat dash trim kits in a 5th gen (or any other)? I bought a Woodview kit for my 2K3 GXE but I am a little nervous about installing it myself since it requires that an adhesive promoter be applied to the areas to be covered prior to the pieces with the 3M tape on the back. Is that adhesive promoter really necessary if the dash surface is very clean? Just how difficult is it to install this type of kit? Any help from someone who has done this will be greatly appreciated.
Great
I got the Molded Kit for my 03 Maxima and it also required to use that adhesive. I had no problems using the adhesive and it actually really helps with the securing of the pieces. I recommend using it as if you ever decide to take it off there is a solution that you can use to clean off the adhesive. Take a look at my cardomain page and look for yourself. Its very easy to do and it takes about and hour and a half. Just take your time and you will love the way it looks. I have the Brushed Aluminum Kit.

i have the exact same kit as hct67.
i didnt use the adhesive and i paid for it. when it got hot inside my car the 3M adhesive tape would warm up and come up in some sections. so i had to get some adhesive in those spots. now its good.

Thanks for the info hct67 and soonerfan. I am going to give it a try and use the adhesive promoter. My kit is English burlwood which looks real nice with the sand color interior and sunlit sand exterior. I never cared for the gray plastic accents on the dash or doors so this should give it a better look. I purchased mine from AutoDash Emporium for $272.69 (that includes shipping). But there are a multitude of places selling on the web. Search for molded dash kit or just dash kit.

Yeah HCT97 where did you purchase that kit (molded) from? I have a 2000 and was looking at the molded brushed alluminum. I couldnt find it for cheaper than 400.00 and that was only 7 pieces. How many pieces is the one you have?
mine is the molded brushed aluminum on a 2000.
9 pieces - $241!!

I want a few more pieces than you have. I want the radio surround and the clock surround and steering wheel controls done. I looked at the Woodview kit that you have and they have no additional pieces that you can buy. Should I stick with all the same kit or can I mix brands. B/c that kit you have is def. a better price, I just want more pieces.
