1 Dead Max: fuel pump? ECU?

I was geting n the highway this evening and was accelerating up to speed. Come about 50 MPH at 3500-4000 RPMs the engine shuts off and all my warning lights start flashing. Coasting along in "N" I tried restarting the engine several times. Basically what it does is start up to 1000 or so RPM, "blips", idles down to 500 RPM, blips again, goes to 100 or so and then dies. Its as if the ECU doesnt recongize the idle speed and just lets the engine die out. AAA towed me to the Nissan dealership, which was fortunately only 2 miles away, so they'll be able to work on it come Tuesday, but in the meantime I was hopin someone might have an idea of what could be wrong with the car. My other question is: think the K&N filter, UDP, Cat-back, or wired in switch for my drop resistor will cause any hassle as far as warantee issues go? I'm only at 28,000 miles so everything should still be covered (i know the speedometer was covered cause I just got the car back this past Tuesday for a speedo cluster replacement due to a light out). Anywas, sucked having the car die, fortunately my girlfriend was driving back in her car behind me and we were only .5 miles from home as well. OK so any ideas would be great!

Did you have the crankshaft and camshaft position sensor recall done? A sudden 'death' can be caused by these sensors failing.

sounds like eighter the Crank/Cam position sensor failure, or a MAF.... I'm leaning towards the MAF. Next time this happens just unplug the sucker and drive home in limp mode.

I had the recall for the crank sensor done a while back. MAF huh? I'll stop by the dealer today and try unplugging it... maybe, we'll see. THanks
