Well I got my car back today....

initially I wasn't very happy with the results but I grew happier as the day went along...why?

because the gain with the T/C was VERY subtle with the new tranny internals in place....you feel absolutely NO shifts at all...and keep in mind i do have the valvebody...basically it feels like your butt is gliding on oil...thats how smooth the tranny shifts..

downshifting is another story

its also really subtle because i noticed that when i stomped the pedal it didnt feel like i was moving very quickly but when i looked at my speedo i was doing 100+

tranny feels rock solid as well...i can tell the difference by the shifts

PS.

Guys I need some help....Level 10 charged me over 1000!!! more than I anticipated and was quoted for this job

what the hell do i do? Im definately going to call tomorrow but the proper question would be...what can I do?
the charged extra for a "drum" that was blown up

hehe...you may be tempted, but I still wouldn't do that to any auto tranny.....regardless of what has been done to it. Just flash the TC if you want a good launch....

wow....they charged you $1k more than the estimate? That's crazy. I don't know what you can do though since it was an 'estimate' that they gave you. Did you sign any papers before they started work on it? What did they say in regards to the estimate?

Yeah, they should have asked you if it was ok to go ahead with the rebuild if the job cost $4k. Maybe someone can help you out...

http://www.protorque.com From what I've heard, they're basically the same, except ProTorque is much cheaper. Turbo95Max, his friend, and I are going to install a torque converter in CalsonicSE's car this weekend. Hopefully we can take pics as the install goes along. Hope........

basically they said it would cost me about $3200 to do the job but my "drum" was blown up so they charged me and extra 546...plus 250 for towing...i can handle the towing but i dunno about the 546...how the hell do i know it wasnt alright before they claimed to have "fixed" it?

will, again its very subtle...i do feel more connection on the shifts/acceleration but the shifts make it hard to notice....i have no idea if its shaved a second off of my 1/4 mile...you would think a .5 to 1 second increase would be easy to notice??

would anyone with knowledge of transmission be so kind as to tell me if any of these pictures show the drum??
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...newphotos=true

another thing that seems weird is that...they said they quoted me for a price of 3814-towing on thursday at 10:12am IN PERSON but i was kind of taking a midterm at that time? durf

150 strictly for the y installation.....i felt like they were trying to rob me...was i right?

the only thing i could think of is when the towing guy was trying to get my car onto the tow truck using 1st gear...and my first gear was blown!!!

PS. should i be breaking this thing in? after all it can handle "600hp"

$60-$75 for the installation... if you were in the Bay Area, $40.

Sorry, but what is a neutral drop? Is it when you shift the car into neutral when it's rolling to a stop? That's what my cousin does, I don't know why. I guess it's because he missed his manual transmission Supra. Oh well.

neutral drop = stick your auto into neutral, rev the engine to like 4k rpms, and stick it into a drive gear. Very, very bad for an automatic.....don't do it to yours....only try it on rental cars

Newbie Questions....

Hey Pmp-n8a,
What exactly did Level 10 do to your tranny and what was the total cost? From what I gathered from reading this thread... they rebuilt the tranny and put in a new torque converter. Is that right? What did they do to the tranny to make it handle up to 600hp? I have a 2001 AE SE and am planning on installing a S/C with intercooler. From what I've read, my tranny is the first to go, so I am researching this Level10 tranny rebuild. Sorry for the Newbie questions guys... I appreciate your help!
