You need a obd-II tool that can get calibration id. I dont have that, all I got is a scantool.net's scanner which works with a pda or a laptop. None of the software I tried had that function, so I did it manually. I connected the tool, opened a Hyperterminal window and entered 0904. I got a bunch of hexadecimal data back :
>0904
49 04 01 31 32 59 39
49 04 02 31 38 00 00
49 04 03 00 00 00 00
49 04 04 00 00 00 00
49 04 05 56 58 32 33
49 04 06 35 47 00 00
49 04 07 00 00 00 00
49 04 08 00 00 00 00

You need the bytes starting from 4th position. From the first row those would be 31 32 59 39, etc.
You need some way to convert those hexadecimal numbers to ascii chars. I was in a hurry and used regedit to create a new binary value with that data and it was automatically converted to 12Y918VX235G. important characters there are 2Y918. 23710-2Y918 is the ECU(ECM) part number.

If I have Autozone scan it, will their scanner tell me my ecu number? I hate to pay the dealer again.
