Threw 2 codes today, need some help . . .

The Codes are p1320 and p0420

The car is running fine.

I don't want to blame the throttle body restrictor removal for the codes if it is the case because the car feels so much better with out it.

But if anyone has some input on the codes and how to fix it would be much apreciated.

edit "P0420" Says that the catalyst systme efficiency for bank 1 is below the threshold for the current engine operating condition.

P1320 not sure Autozone could not tell

yikes. here is the tsb for P0420. its covered 8yr/80k warranty. you will have to go to the dealer for this one.
P1320 is a coil misfire. 2k and early 2k1 coils are notorious for failing. here the tsb for the misfire but its covered 3yr/36k unless you have some form of extended warranty. replacing the coils should yield very favorable results.

also talkin to nissan techs, should remove the bracket holding the enormous wire harness , which is right below the power steering pump. they think it causes a break in the wires

Thanks for the replies.

So basicly I need a new Cat Converter and new Coils and to have the ECU reset. Now I have A y-pipe would this make the Main CAT the problem?

you dont necessarily need a new cat. most people i have seen got the ecu update and had no issues after that. some have had to replace the main cat after the update did not resolve it but i would start with the ecu update first unless the dealer offers to change it out.

the p0420 catalyst inefficiency code is more of a ECU glitch. It is covered under the federal emissions warranty 8yr/80k. It requires a download of an updated version of ECU software.

As for the p1320, thats quite interesting. I threw that code when testing for the TS ecu, but that was cause something was physically wrong with the ECU

I been getting the P0420 code every 5 days to be exac, due to me not having any cats on my 01 Cali spec. I installed a 02 eliminator kit to cure the problem and ditched the 02 sensors. Runs nice and my fuel trims are perfect at the same time.

with this kit, does it eliminate all of the sensors? (primary and secondary?) i have seen some o2 simulator kits but never eliminators so i am curious. i am having one clearance issue with my headers and i am looking to see all viable options of fixing it. is what replaces the o2 any shorter than the original sensor? thanks for any info. edit-i understand the simulator kit replaces the secondary kit but was wondering which the eliminator kit gets rid of.

eliminator is my own design using a simulator and on top of that a dummy heater element. U won't ever be able to eliminate the primary 02 sensors since they need to measure the A/F ratio. I am going to see if I can rig up a wideband from a new TL to work with our ECU. Honda no longer uses 02 sensors, but A/F monitors as they call it- supposed to be a wideband from the factory. That is why their engines run so clean.
