Any 5th gen (2k-2k1) 5spds having transmission problems?

I'm asking because my 4th gen 5spd has come down with a case of bearing failure and I need to replace or rebuild the transmission. I recently learned from another org member that 2k-2k1 5spds can fit in the 4th gens. Since the rebuild is coming out to be a little expensive I was thinking of bolting on a used 5th gen 5spd tranny from a junkyard.

So do 5th gen (2k-2k1) 5spd transmissions suffer from bearing failure also or did nissan fix that for the newer generation?

Thanks

Thanx for the feedback guys.

Just one more question ...

I've been searching the 5th gen forums to see if anyone was talking about manual transmission problems and it seems to me quite a few 2k2-2k3 6spd MT's are experiencing 3rd gear grinding problems.

This is not a problem with the 2k-2k1's is it?

Thanx

My trans was replaced at 52K. 1st gear was making a loud thumping noise up to 3500 RPM and my car was bone stock.

It was good. I have family up there. I'm there like every other year. I was there for my cousins wedding. Usually everyday that I'm in Mississauga I'm always drunk.

4th gear blew up on me at around 67K miles, I rebuild the tranny myself with all new syncros and 4th gears, 90K now or so and still good, not a single grind before rebuild or after.

I have a 2000 Max and I had a bearing failure at 59k miles. Got a 2001 transmission and was covered under warranty. I hear the 2001 tranny is stronger.
