Do I need Spring Isolators?
Do I need Spring Isolators?
Since Installing my Eibachs and Illuminas about a month ago I have this faint creaking noise comming from the back. If I get in the trunk and bounce up and down, it sounds like the noise is comming from the top strut mount.
I have tried waiting for the springs to settle, and spraying the whole thing down with WD-40... I still have the noise.
Anyone know what this is? I am thinking maybe I need speing isolators, but if there is an easier fix I would like to try that before I take everything apart again.
Any orgers have this problem? How did you fix it? Where to get good spring isolators?
Thanks guys

Well, the Eibachs came with some clear tubing around the coils. I used the short stock isolators on the bottom of the spring and the clear tubing around the top (where the coils are close together).
This clear tubing seems kind of cheap and flimsey, not like the thick plastic stock isolators. Can you buy this kind of stuff by the foot somewhere? I would like to wrap the top three coils with this stuff (the stock ones on the bottom coil is enough for like 1.5 coils). This noise is bugging the hell out of me.
Sorry if this makes no sense. I guess I cant write today.
Thanks

Sounds like your rear strut top center bolt may not been tighten enough. Check the nut with a flashlight on level ground. If you have a friend or another body, have that body use a visegrip and hold down the piston of the strut while you tighten and check the top bolt down.
Good luck!
Good luck!
