Brake pedals to the floor

I was on my last mile of about a 150 mile trip yesterday and when I tried my brakes, they suddenly (no warning at all) had to be pushed to the floor to work at all. I only had about 3 more stops until I was there, but those last few stops were all the same. When I got there, I saw no brake fluid, my reservoir was full, and nothing else seemed wrong. I pumped the brakes a few times with the engine off and when I got back in the car to make the 150 mile trip back all was well. (btw I wasn't going to drive home had the brakes still been crapping). Could this have just been an air pocket in the brake line, or should I send the car back to the dealer today? The brakes are all stock too. Thanks for the input.

thanks. do you think replacing the master cylinder would be a good idea? I didn't run it through water and the calipers weren't smoking or smelling.

how much would it cost to just replace these brakes with a better quality brake? i'm getting a HUGE amount of brake dust with the stocks. what a pain.

Could be a bad master cynlinder. Push hard on the brake pedal with the engine on. See if the brake pedal gradually sinks to the floor. Do this when it is cold outside, e.g. early in the morning.

doubt if the lines are ruptured. happened to kloogy and the whole brake fluid leaked.

as far as upgrading the brakes, there are a few options. you can get the big brake kit(i think thats what it's called),cross drilled rotors, brembo blanks, a kit is available with which the 2004 rotors can be used,, depends on how much MUAAAA you wanna drop..

Best bet says air in the system.

One other possibility is that the fluid is contaminated.

Thanks a lot guys, you've been a lot of help. The dealer said he'd replace the master cylinder if it happens again. Thanks.

I've been told that you should replace the slave cylinder as well when the master goes. I don't know if this is true or not. I do know that the slave went about a year after my master was replaced.
