Could Somebody Diagnose This Problem

I was on my way home from work and all of a sudden when i came to a stop at a light my car was idling quite violently almost like it had shivers.
I shortly got home and parked it. Then later in the evening the service engine light came on. Whats werid was that in the morning when i took the car in the car still displayed the service engine but it was idling funny. They looked at it and said it was a cylinder misfire or something. So after they looked at it and did a few things they test drove it and it seemed fine, they said that if it came on again to bring it back, so now like a week later on the way to work it began to idle like it was the first time, i have yet to see the light come on. i dont know if the cyclinder misfired was the cause of the idling or what the problem is or vice versa or if they are even connected. If somebody could help me with this problem id greatly appreciate it.
I drive and treat my car like a baby takin it real slow and perform regular maintenance i dont see what this could be.

Yeah, I was thinking that sounds like a coil problem. I'm new to the Max, but a lot of my friends have VWs and they had similar coil problems.

If you have a 2000 or 01 it is probably the ignition coils. I have a 2000 and my car was doing the exact same thing. Had to bring it in twice for the dealer to find the prolem but they found it. 2000-01 are famous for the coils going.

I have the same error (P1320). Your's say's that its cylinder #5. Replace the ignition coil on that cylinder.

I am not getting anything other than P1320 and my mechanic tested the resistance w/ an ohm meter on each coil and he said it was fine. I bought 6 coils from twllin and waiting for them to be shipped. I am just going to change all 6.

I had a question about ignition coil symptoms...sometimes when i start the car (usually cold engine) it doesn't start nicely. It sorta rev's weird. My mechanic sugested i change the crank sensor or crank ignition sensor (not sure), rather than the coils. I told him that i did research and i think i will change the coils anyways. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Same things happend to me. Code pulled and it said misfire cylinder #3. 5 minutes after the codes was pulled it went away and the car has been driving fine ever since then. Also it's been like 3k miles since that happened to me.

Mine was covered under warranty, because I have an extended bumper to bumper 100,000 mile warranty. I dont know if is included in any factory warranty or not. I also have no idea how much it would cost mine was at no charge.

Dont waste your time just changing one coil, I would reccomend replacing all 6. The coils they replace the old ones with are supposed to have corrected the problems the stock ones have. I got all 6 replaced.
