This is a quick poll to see how many people have replaced the MAF on their 2k2/2k3. If there are enough people with who have replaced it, I would like to see if I can get Nissan (or the Dept. of Transportation) to do a recall.

 

I replace my with a 2k/2k1.

 

2K3. I haven't replaced mine. It seems like most people who've blown them on 02-03 models were doing some sort of mod that probably caused it.

 

I think it's because the 2k2s are too sensative that's why they blow....

2k3s on the other hand last longer and better because of the newer model.

 

02s have different mafs from 03s? What's the difference between the two?

 

I believe the MAF's have gone through some revisions over time and its easy to see why an 03 would likely have a newer version than an 02. Whether or not an 03 has the latest MAF is up to when the 03 was made. I would bet there are 03's out there with the same MAF's as later 02's.

Aside from the MAF, you also need to consider the ECU programming to be up to date as well.

 

It's mostly 2002 models blowing the MAF, but there are a few 2003 models with the same MAF part number as the crappy 2002 one...

 

No blow on MAF on my old 2k2.

I had a frakencar intake with APEXi filter since my car had 80kms thats right, my car never seen a stock airbox before.

I have 50,000kms now... still no maf blow

 

mine was replaced for free by nissan at about 40K miles. it blew the day after an intake install.

 

There is a TSB for most '02 and some '03 which replaces MAF (upgraded) and flashes ECM. Many '02 got the upgrade.

 

It's like a 2k-2k1 5th gen (still a 5th gen) It's the same # but it's revised...never changed the # i guess....

 

I'm trying to get my dealer to perform the loss of power TSB, thereby changing the MAF and programming the ECU.

10,000 miles w/FrankenCar intake and still haven't replaced the stock MAFS yet.

 

stock 2k2, 60k miles, service engine light is on, code says O2 sensor and MAF

 

The must be more 2k2/2k3 with MAF problems. I consider it a safety issue. You pull out into traffic and wheres the go-go-go ,while your slowly watch the tac. climb.

 

I had this done about 10k miles ago.

 

I guess the Altima's are in teh same boat because mine blew twice...

i'm still on my stock MAF with a cattman/PR CAI and monsterflow filter but i wouldn't be surprised if i needed a new sensor in the future

 

135k on my 2k3. 60k with an Injen. No blown MAF so far. must be a 2k2 thing.

Anyone else notice this thread is 3 months old? 2,000 miles on my Frankencar with Apex'i, no MAF problem yet....knock on wood.

 

I have replaced it on both mine. My new black 2000 I bought it with the MAF not working, it's all too obvious how much it lags.

 

46k miles on my '02, 3k miles of it with an Injen. Still on the original MAF.

 

50k on my max and no blown maf.

 

replaced maf with 2y001 at 95Kish miles.

bosch HFM5's arent all that great, not jsut on nissans...

 

Replaced mine, blew shortly after intake install.

 

Replaced mine, but only because the service advisor wanted to make sure the car doesn't die on the road. I'm at 70k now. (40k on the new MAF)

 

Uhhh well... no new MAF yet.

 

3 months old? Its from June 2004.

Anyways, I've never replaced the MAF... K&N drop-in for 30+k and Berk w/ K&N for 10+k...
