performace wise, anything but a pr cai is a waste of money.

I have a 2k2 also and went with the Injen. Having some fittment issues. If you go to the group deal, Berk Technology is having a good deal on theirs. Ed

There is always a thread about "which air intake is the best?" on page 1. There has got to be at least 500 threads already.

Ok, I'll bite...why is every other intake a waste of money?

they aren't a waste of money if you know going in that a hai is a cosmetic / sound mod, and not much of a performance one.

So I, along with about 75% of the other members on this site, wasted our money on an intake that only provides a cosmetic benefit to the car? Don't think so.

If intakes are a cosmetic/sound mod, then why the *** does Frankencar provide dyno slips to prove that their intake is much more than that?

all intakes do the same thing - increase airflow.
the "performance" diffirence between all of them is so minimal it doesnt really matter. it all comes down to what name intake you want on your signature. people bye the injen cause its shiney and "looks cool" it isnt worth half of what the rape you for.
and no one has proof that ANY intake has a better HP increase per dollar then the GAB. it does the EXACT thing as the expensive intakes. people buy those cause they think expensive=better product=more HP. THATS CRAP!

I almost did the gab, but decided to buy an intake anyway, and leave the stock airbox alone. An aftermarket intake WILL add power, but I'm not expecting anything too amazing at this point.

Hmmm. I'll tell you what. I'll bet your title against mine that my Berk w/Apexi shows equal or better gains than your PR CAI? I have the dyno's to prove it.

Ill say it again for the 500th time....Breather mods will not cause any neck snapping performance so don't expect it! A intake by itself , any intake at that matter will give you better response and shift your power band to mid to high end power.Because of the shift, you will lose low end.

A intake mated w/ a cat back system will benifit better gains and your low end will return , depending on the diameter of your cat back system.2.25 diameter gives you over all performance gains throughout the rev band ,anything larger and you will be losing torque and your car will become a mid to high end machine. The guy at the custom exhaust shop told me that , a guy who has done exhaust for pro-race cars over 25 years. He said for our cars anything over 2.25" diameter is overkill, unless your V6 is supercharged or turbo.

If you want serious gains people you have to do internal engine work. Cams, pistons, lighter crankshaft, etc....thats where your HP and torque increases dramatically. Breather mods are suppliments to your internal mods, combined with internal mods, you will have a road rocket!!!

same performance as Injen, Berk, Frankerncar, GAB, etc.

choose intake based on how much you wanna spend and if you wanna "support" a company by showing off their intake.

I stopped by a local speed shop in my neighborhood called "Speed Quest Performance" and I asked about what he would recommend, the Ijen or Stillen, and he suggested the Stillen because of the low cost and it would still do it's job.

BP_3.5, is that the coathanger mod? i was going to do that but lost the write-up.

everyone else; look, maybe i put it the wrong way. i still think that any aftermarket intake is more show than go. AND, i think that the all pretty much give the same (very minimal) gains, with the nod going to the CAI's and the GAB's.

when choosing an intake, simply choose it based on which one looks the best with your hood popped open.
