won't start...
Hey guys. I have a 2000 SE with 62,000 miles, and it won't start. I just replaced the battery the other day, but it's not the cause of the problem. The car ran fine for 2 days. Then, yesterday, I went out to start it. When I turn the ignition, it sounds like it turns, but nothing after that. The sound it makes is the sound when you first turn the ignition, but it won't do anything after that. A few people have mentioned that it might not be getting any fuel. I don't know what to make of it. I had it towed to the dealership this morning, but they can't look at it until tomorrow. I have a 5-year, 100,000 mile Elite protection warranty, so I'm hoping whatever it is, it's covered. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem similar to this, or if anyone has an idea what it is.
Thanks,
Trent

Not real common, but happens.
Turn your key to the "ON" position and if the security light is on solid, ie not blinking, then you've activated the NVIS(Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System). Usually, the chip in your key is missing or failed, so you just get your other key and perform the unlock procedure in the How-To sticky above.

Well, the car's fixed! Thanks for all the replies, but it turned out to be none of the above. Actually, it was kind of a freak thing. They told me that the wiring harness that goes to the crank sensor was torn in two, well, actually, CHEWED in two. When they found the problem, it had teeth marks in it. He asked if I lived near the woods, and I do. We've had opossums and/or raccoons eat through the metal tubing on our grill on the back deck before, so it's hard to tell what ate through the wiring. He said it could've been anything from a chipmunk to something larger. Oh, well. The repair was all covered under my extended warranty, and most of the towing was paid for (I just have to pay $25 of it.) I'll have to take a look at the wiring when I pick up my car tomorrow.

If the mechanics still have the wire harness, (which I certainly hope they do), I'll take a few pix and post them on my webpage. Guess I'll just have to start putting up an electric fence around my car at night.
