UPDATE! 2k3 VQ35DE rattling noise update

Well for about a month, i had a weird rattling noise in gear or out of gear (6speed)... and i finally got it taken to Nissan since i needed my Stillen Rotors and Stillen pads installed.

GUESS WHAT THEY FOUND!!

One of the bolts (out of 4) that holds the power steering rack to the subframe had come loose. Resulting in noise plus fidgety steering. They had no idea how such a bolt could come loose as it is factory tightened. WEll under warranty they rethreaded the bolt.

Drove home.. No noise. Wow those stillen brakes do make some funky noises.. But i am waiting to brake them in before hard braking.

NOW WHAT!!

The noise is back. To best explain the noise it sounds like there is a heat shield rattling or something. Called the dealer again.

This is what they told me. They believe it is the right rear cat (assuming the one on the manifold). They said that it is a common problem on VQ35DE's.

I will take it back again. but man.. this rattling is annoying!..

Just a friendly update for you guys

Does this mean it's time to get some headers?

Hmm.. I was thinking just that too.. Nice set of hotshots..

But i have to see what nissan says about this. Maybe i can work a deal with them...

How does the hotshot headers stand up against the salty winters of Canada?

Ceramic coated headers will do just fine in salty roads of Canada winters. Should last longer then the life of the car.
