feeling so stupid

Just wanted to share my idiot moment in hopes of preventing someone from suffering the same. Last night as I finished my oil change on my 2003 Max, I screwed up good. When backing up off the ramps, I noticed an undue amount of resistance to rolling backwards. Instead of engaging my brain and asking “what’s wrong here”, I gunned the engine. That proceeded to shoot the ramps forward and the car drop and bounce like a low rider. Anyway, please remember to remove the rear wheel chocks prior to backing up off a ramp. I was lucky no one was hurt. Chalk one up to experience I guess………

Better one: '88 Ford Tempo. Pointed uphill, got it on ramps. No wheel chocks on the rear. The 1/8" plug from my phono->tape adapter (used to use a portable MP3 CD player hooked into the tape deck) was caught between the automatic shifter and the plastic edge of its slot, so it was technically in P(park), but barely. Hadn't pulled the drainplug yet, so the oil filter was still on and the oil pan was still full. I opened the driver's side door, noticed the tape adapter's plug caught, decided to pull it out. When I pulled it out, it tipped the automatic shifter into Reverse. The car instantly backed off the ramps, and right before the driver's side door smacked me, I grabbed the upper part of the door opening and swung myself in, slamming the brake pedal as soon as I could. By then the car had drifted a good 20 feet, right into the middle of the small orchard in our front yard. Luckily I was able to drive it out of there (the hill was very steep ) It'd suck if I'd had already drained the oil though... I'd have to complete the oil change with a jack with the car sitting on a slight sideways angle in the middle of an orchard
