Why didnt opt for the valve springs when you were in there. That way you can rev to um like 8000 rpm.

Actually he's running the Tomei 268ş cams, not the 264ş cams.

Donkey - props on putting these thing in. What other parts do we need to install these properly(shims, valve springs) if others were to follow in your footsteps?

The Nissan Manual was very handy for certain. The only things we bought were:

Ultra Gray silicone
Marvel Mystery (stuff) I believe it was oil
Carb/engine cleaner
Royal Purple Engine Lube
Tomei Cams
food
drinks
new oil and oil filters

I do believe that is all.

We weren't 'in' there. We would have to go in further to do all that...I have titanium retainers I would have put in as well.

Nice job Alex. Bet it was great to work with SR20DEN which would be a pleasure and an adventure in itself. Which headers? Was getting ready to do that one but big fittment issues right now. Titanium retainers done with the cams? Any new dog pictures?

Instead of clogging the thread with questions that are based on assumptions, I found this through a web search. I hope this is useful to some of you, who like me, don't know a lot about cams.

Look here..... http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question562.htm

It was definitely cool having someone around that knew something. I have the Stillen headers at the moment. I just am not ready to give up on them yet. There were no fitment issues with those...but I think you know the rest of the story. The retainers are not done yet. We would have had to take the rest of the engine apart for that. I will do those when I get new pistons/rods down the road. As far as dog pictures, I am sure I can scrap some up sometime.
