Does anyone know how to change the climate control readout from F to C (or vice versa) Suspect it is some sort of button sequence - hold this while pushing that. Perhaps someone with a shop manual can look this up. Thanks in advance.

Temperatures are given in Fahrenheit on the news and everywhere else in the U.S., why would you want to change it to Celcius? And how can you not be good at reading it in Fahrenheit? Nothing is in Celcius. Peace.

 

right?! my friends benz is in celcius and instead of learning how celcius reads, it took him 6 months to learn the formula to translate it to farenheit

 

Its time america switch to the metric system... sheesh we're lame.

 

You would think that because the maxima is an import car it would be in both F and C, but the Ford Explorer (a domestic) DOES offer both F and C on their temp display.

The Nissan ESM shows that only Canadian models have the display in Celsius. Pages HA-52 and HA-53 shows that there is an additional ground on the Auto Climate Amp (pin 14) on the Candians models. This may be how the display is picked to show Celsius. A switch may be able to mounted that would allow this pin to be grounded at will, allowing the diplay to be switched from Fahrenheit to Celsius and back. NOTE: I HAVE NOT THIS. MAKE THIS CHANGE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Looking at the Nissan ESM, it would seem very unlikely that you can convert to an Automatic climate control system if you have the manual in place. From the Nissan ESM:

"A small network is constructed between the auto amplifer, air mix door motor, mode door motor, and intake door motor. The auto amplifier and motors are connected by data transmission lines and motor supply lines. The LAN network is built through the ground circuits of the three motors.
...
The auto amplifier receives data from each of the sensors. The amplifier sends air mix door, intake door and mode door opening andle data to the air mix door motor LCU (local control unit), mode door LCU and the intake door motor LCU."

Also, four sensors (Ambient temp, In-vehicle temp, Sunload, and intake) maust be added and wired.

Bottom line: Next to impossible to convert without a major interior rework.

I live in Canada where our system is metric...all Canadian Max's are in celcius, I would have thought my American cousins would have preferred to stay away from metric...go figure....

 

...actually, most of us can't figure out why we were taught metric system in grade school, having been told it's coming (remember gas stations pricing gas by the litre?), only for it to never occur. I even remember seeing road signs in both english and metric.

Metric is so much easier and sensible. Why does the government think we are stupid??

 

That's too bad. I really want to have C on there. I dunno why they made it so hard...on other cars u just hit AMB and mode or something and it switches.

We are the only ones pretty much that don't use the metric system. You should know that if someone says it's like 40°C, it's pretty hot, go buy some water or u'll die of heat exhaustion. Cuz if all u know is the US system, you'll be highly disadvantaged in other countries traveling or living.

When u do a search and start reading the thread you dont usually check the date of it, u just read and reply. Thats the natural flow. I understand in his case he didnt add anything to it, but if the thread was recent, he would've commented the same way, so since all like to enforce the serach engine that much, it is like all threads are somehow recent.
