y pipe low end power loss

I have a PR CAI and recently got a y pipe and i was warned with the cai about the loss of low end power (never really noticed it) however now when i accelerate hard the engine will really lag around 3500 rpm almost like it just stops completely for a split second...then again around 5000 i notice a diff from before i got the y pipe... as it really picks up a bit faster...just making sure this is somewhat normal...i'm still in the break in period for the y pipe (drove 200 miles with it so far) .... i have 5spd in case that matters at all

cai do not loss low end power. ive seen a few people posting that lately but its not true. cai gain on the bottom end and mid. they tend to make less power up top because of the length of the pipe. do you have the original coils and maf in the car?
