2K2 Injen Problem
2K2 Injen Problem
I have a 2002 Maxima with 6 speed. I recently purchased a new RD1940. I am having a problem where I cannot bolt it down to the water outlet as it is described in the instructions. Right now, it is being held on just by about 1/8" off the washer and not the bolt(secondary or longer aluminum piece). I was wondering if anyone can take a close up picture of their MAF sensor and send it to me so I can compare it with mine. I'm just wondering if that is the problem of maybe mine may be longer than the rest. I appreciate any help. Ed. edkim58@hotmail.com
I had no problems installing the injen on my 2k1 but it did take a little bit of tlc to get it to line up properly. I suggest taking a look at it again and making sure all the fittings line up properly.

Use these pictures... what are you talking about? (ignore the circle... was for another topic)

Excellent pictures. By the way, where you have a circle is my problem. I have taken it off and put it back on three times and that bracket where it is suppose to tie down to the bolt on the water inlet piece of the longer aluminum piece will not reach. The other thing is that mine is about 1/2" away from the fan shroud. Yours looks as if it is about 1"-2" away. It is amazing how others have the problem with their's also. Could you take a picture of your MAF? For some reason, it looks shorter than mine. Again, thanks for your help and others who have replied. I hate to say it like this but I felt like I was the only one who had a problem with it fitting properly.

One thing I can think of doing is to make sure that the rubber sleeves are properly "seated" meaning the tubes are butted as far as possible together.
Hope these help... click for a larger version.
I did not need to bend anything to make it fit. I did have a hard time the first time because I tightened up the "cover sleeves" (not sure the real name...the red rubbery connectors) too tight. Once I loosened them it was much easier to twist into the proper position, then I tightened everything down all the way.
The MAF tube is 5", maybe 6" long.

That's not the problem. Can I ask one more favor from you to measure the top of bracket(where the weld is) to the end of the longer aluminum piece(it goes into the MAF)? My coworker thinks that the bracket may be welded in the wrong spot. Mine appears to be about 5.5" from the end to the top of the weld. Again, I am only asking since I just purchased the RD1940 since mid May and have no cooperation with the company I purchased it from and Injen. Thanks, Ed.

This helps out a whole lot! Thanks for all of your help! Like I said, mine appears to be about 5.5" compared to your 4.25". This is why I cannot tie mine down and it is only hanging on by the washer and not the bracket. I guess I will have to take everything apart again and send the longer aluminum piece back to Injen. I just hope they send out a new one asap. Again, I appreciate your help on this one. Ed.

I finally received my new longer aluminum piece from Injen. Paul Ho, who I have been dealing with since I purchased the RD 1940 new two months ago could not understand what went wrong with the manufactured piece I had. The bracket to tie down the whole thing was welded in the wrong spot. Again, I want to thank you for your help in taking the pictures. Ed.
