my 2001 has weird noises when the steering wheel is turned to the extremities. it releases some sort of schreech like a belt or somhitng would make. it only happens in parking lots and sorts when i have to use the steering alot and to both sides.

what is this problem?

 

My 2000 Has the same noises, with only 18500 miles on it. I jacked up the frontend and turned the streeing to both extremities and gased it in drive, no noises, only when turning forward on pavement. Any help? thanks

 

i think someone once said it has to do with when you try to push the steering past the stops (which can't be done)...the power steering belt starts to slip....so as not to burn out the power steering motor (or something like that)....
