p0420

I had my MAX for about a month now and two days ago my engine service soon light comes on - the car drove fine, no problems as far as I could tell. Yesterday I went to autozone, got a code readout as well as a light reset. The code was 0420 and the light has not come back yet. I could have sworn someone mentioned a TSB for 0420 code, but thats all I know about it. What does the code mean and is there really a TSB for it? Thanx in advance.

I found this website http://www.troublecodes.net/Nissan/95ams96-00.shtml which lists the code as "TWC function", so I'm back to square one - Anyone have an English translation for this?

P0420 code:

Take it to the dealer, they will diag it (they will tell you they may charge you $85 for diag), but once they find it's the TSB and covered under the warranty, they'll reprogram your ECU for free and away you go.

It has do with the cat but its really is an internal computer glitch. The computer needs to re-programmed. Its covered under the 80k emmisions warranty. Don't let the dealer charge 80 bucks for the diagnoses and then not charge for the TSB work.......because its a tsb the whole thing should be FREEE. Some nissan dealers in baltimore have the nerve to try and charge the diag fee for covered TSB work....

good luck

I took mine to the dealr for that same code and they said the computer was fine it was actually the CAT. My dealer is pretty cool with my car and the don't even mention the mods on the car causing damage or whatever. So I replaced the cat got one from Warp speed for $100.00. and PooF the light went out and stayed out.
