Is there any way I can fix this? *pic*

Apparently my shoe has been rubbing against the carpet by the dead pedal whenever I push the clutch in. Is there any way this can be repaired without replacing all of the interior carpet? It looks really bad.

i could only imagine what your floormat looks like or do you not have one in place to protect your carpet.

I do have floormats. That is one in the picture I posted. The floor mats are in good condition. It is the carpet where my foot has been rubbing that is the area of concern. Now how can I fix this?

I'm in the same exact boat as you- it seems to be common with 6 speeds. That would be a challenge, even for an upholstery shop. They could probably cut out a big chunk and stitch it underneath the floor mat, but I dunno.

you should put a big piece of wood there to protect the carpet, then buy some wood protection glaze, then apply a thin layer of sheet metal to protect the wood, just cut your leg off and make it easier on yourself lol

Cutting would look like crap. I would look for another floor mat that would stay higher on the sides. You may also be able to put a smaller mat (like for the rear) under your front to cover the area...or go with the diamond plate stuff so it will never wear out!

I wonder if an upholstery shop would be able to make a piece out of vinyl that extends from the dead pedal to the area over the hump. I guess that would fix being able to see the worn carpet. I wonder if it would look tacky. This bothers me so much, I am contemplating replacing all of the carpet. I bet that would be pretty expensive though.

as unsightly as it'll look, i would suggest getting a plastic piece to cover... at least it'll save your carpet before you dig a hole into it.

My last car was a stick and had the same problem..I'm even getting it now with my auto. I ended up going to straus auto and buying a cheap set of floor mats. I only used one of the back seat floor mats and stuck it where the back of my foot would rest while driving...saved my Maxima floor mats...big time
