Maxima or WRX
I went out last weekend to see the new 2002 Subaru WRX. Talk about pocket rocket. That thing was sweet. 227 hp
0-60 in 5.7 sec. Damn. Has anyone raced one yet. Im sure theyll be poppen up every where seeing the the base price is about 23k to the fully loaded 28k. I wanted to trade my car in right there for it. But my girlfriend talked me out of it. Good thing to cuz every girl I know thought they were ugly. What do you guys think about the new compt. Will it stack up to the Max or surpass it.

We've hit this several times recently but since I love those things I'll post again.
On the sheer performance side, I feel the WRX has more potential and stock to stock has us beat.
On comfort and daily driving I think the Max has the WRX beaten.
If you want a fun car that begs to be driven and don't mind sacrificing some comfort and don't mind or even enjoy its styling, then the WRX is right for you.
Overall I think the Max is the perfect balance for most of us on this board though I would love to have a WRX as a second car.

maxima is more a family car for comfort and smoothness. The AWD and the power of WRX are really really attractive to me. But when I think about the future, there are not too many subaru dealers around and the parts are expensive and rare. It takes long enough for me to wait for nissan parts, can't imagine the wait for that of subaru.
btw, saw a brand new 2002 wrx in the parking lot of Milpitas square, CA....I still like the old impreza better...

chucky...the 5.7 0-60 is for the version of the wrx across seas...our version does 0-60 in 6.7 (numbers sound familiar?)...i've heard it handles like none other, though so i will probably have to go over to take a test drive one of these days

They may be fast, but they look like crap...at least I think so. Something about the headlights bugs me. Plus it seems to be really small. I would rather have the max I think. But then again...I have yet to drive the WRX.
i actually like the way the wrx looks, but it sounds way too small for me...there is no way i'm trading in my max for at least a few years (i didn't put all this money in it for nothing) so i may consider the next version they bring over as my next car...i don't think its worth it to trade in...you bought a car, you made a decision...if you want to lose money on the trade in, that is your choise but i've put enough money and time into my car and i feel it is way too early to start on another project car...i'm waiting probably 5 years or so until i trade in my max

The whole design has grown on me... probably just cause I love rally racing so I respect the car's abilities.

I hope the new Mitsu Lancer EVO will come out in the U.S. i read about it and it seems that it will rip the doors off the WRX... and its not that expensive either... it was just an article in Car And Driver so there wasnt any statistical data to back it up.. but the way they were writing about it made it seem as if its the best damn car on the planet...
