power seat
power seat
I'm wondering... I've seen (in reference to 2002/03 Maximas) the term power seat as well as power seat with memory. Are they separate or do all cars with power seats have a memory (and I haven't screwed around and played with it enough)? My fiancee has an 02 Maxima and the seat is power but I don't see anything to indicate that it has memory. I just want to make sure I'm not missing a cool feature but not knowing some sort of secret way to make it work or something

It's nice, but I wouldn't have paid extra for it. My wife's car has dual memory on the key fob, so I push my fob and the seat and mirrors adjust to me... she pushes hers and they adjust to her. Now THAT'S nice.

If the car has memory seats there are three buttons on the upper door panel near the hinge.
One is labeled "set," the others are "1" and "2". This allows for 2 memorized seat positions.
Supposedly if you have an automatic transmission the memory setting is linked to the key, as long as the "auto" switch on the left side of the lower dash is not set to "cancel." With a manual transmission this switch is still there but it does nothing.
To set the memory, put the seat in the position you want, then press the "set" button, then, within 5 seconds, the number button you want to program.
Only the driver's seat position is recorded - not any of the mirrors.
To recall the memory manually with a m/t, you must have the car at rest and the parking brake set. (It is tricky - I found that the car has to be at rest before the parking brake is set. If you set the brake before coming to a complete stop then the memory recall is locked out.) Then push the number button and the seat will move to the memorized position.
It's not a killer feature but it is useful to restore the seat position after the car has been serviced or driven by someone else. It would be better if it restored the mirrors too.
