Just my luck

I was worried about my 03 GLE going out of the bumper to bumper warranty. I checked everything I could think of at 35500 miles and had no problems. Tonight I went to the store to get some milk and the left speaker went out. I now have 36890 miles. Just my luck.
I know this is a known issue and there is a tsb, but I do not think the dealer will cover it because of the mileage. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get Nissan to cover this? If Nissan does not cover this I will never by another Nissan again.

Even they should let 1500 miles slip... But the trip is a good thing since it's still the end of summer.

IMO, I wouldn't worry about a stock speaker. Hell, now its a good excuse to start building an aftermarket stereo.

It's not the speaker, its the headunit (unless you don't have the Blose system).

I called Nissan 1 today and they said that is a known issue but they will not cover it. They told me to go to the dealer and have them diagnose it for a "nominal" fee and we will go from there. I think they will maybe pro-rate it or charge me "Nissan cost" (which is code for Nissan will make a smaller profit than they would at full price) I will fight this some more. I am tired of the poor craftsmanship of this car. If it were not for the engine, this car would not be worth two *****.

Ahh sorry for the speaker... but I think the Maxima is one of the best car ever built. My boss has a BMW, and know what. 7 speakers, two windows motors an regulators, new wheels, maf changed 3 times... you want me to keep going... It is not the car nor the craftmanship, I think you just listen to loud music and it blew off, It happen to me too. Just go to www.cruthfield.com or your favorite audio web page and get a nice pair of POLK car audio speakers.. expensive but way better than the BOSE ones.. I have the bose audio and I'm rplacing the four do ors with POLK ones soon.....

Take care

I did not think you could replace the speakers and keep the factory Bose head unit. I have heard the problem is not with the speakers, but the HU. If you know of a way to replace the speakers and keep the Bose Hu I would love to know how. I do love the car, I am just a little frustrated because of all of the problems. I have had the car for just 2 years and have several paint chips, had seat motor replaced, severe trunk rattle, passenger window would not raise, car shakes at idle, brakes have been warped since 15k miles (dealer would do nothing to fix),horrible oem tires, the interior noise is very bad(even after wind noise TSB) and the tranny shifts very hard (that will probably fail at 61k miles).
Every time I have asked a Nissan dealer to check the shaking at idle and the tranny, all they do is hook it up and see if it pulls any codes. They never actually look at anything. It just seems the Max needs a lot of maint and upkeep early in the life of the car. My wife has a pos 01 Impala with 85k miles and the paint looks showroom new, original brakes that work great, the hood does not shake, the interior is quite and it shifts smooth. no problems with it what so ever. I guess it is not a pos after all. I would rather drive my Max than the Impala any day. but it is nice to not have to ignore all of the problems with a car.
I am just venting, beacuase I felt the Max was far better (engine and fun factor wise) than anything even close in the price range when I bought it. I do not mind the problems if they are handled well and fixed by Nissan. I know every car has problems, the difference (to me) between a good and bad car company is how it handles its defects. From my experience and what I have read on the org is Nissan does a very poor job of fixing its problems, even when they are well known problems, like the Bose audio left side speaker cut out, warp prone brake rotors ,bad paint, bad maf and ignition coils, etc, etc, etc.
My whole point after all of my b1tching is that I am very grateful I am able to drive a car like the Max and I do like it, I am just a very demanding person when it comes to quality.

I had a window go out of adjustment just before 36,000 and spaced out and didn't get it in. I called w/ 36,069 on the clock and they gave me the cold shoulder. Thank god it was just a reset procedure that someone out here was able to tell me how to do. Nissan wanted $140 for the 3 minutes of time it took me.

There is a TSB for Bose systems whose left side speakers go out. I am experiencing the same thing and will be taking my ride in for some TSB love this week. The TSB number is 03-017 dated FEB 03 and titled "Audio System - Left Side Speakers Inoperative"
