maf?
can i clean the part of the sensor thats looks ike a resistor with a spray can of electric parts cleaner?
to make a long story short:
girl freinds 2002 maxima SE stopped excelerating on the freeway and got it towed to a local shop and got quoted 704.00 parts and labor. BS!!! i asked the shop if they took it apart and checked for any dirt and said they did but all the bolts i just took of were on like they never were taken of because they and that snap when you 1st take them of from factory.
if cleaning does not work, is 110.00 for a used part a good deal. i was looking in the frequently asked questions section and the only thing i can read on is that the 2000-01 are a 100.00. do the 2000-03 use the same maf?

you can clean it. but if the car does not accelerate, most likely the MAF is already gone.
$704 is a ripped off. tell them to just order the sensor but not the entire MAF tube. you can reuse your existing MAF tube.
There are people with 2k2+ maxima and using 2k or 2k1 MAF sensor. I am not sure what it takes to do the swap.

You need to look out for a guy named Dave B, here's his email: daveb@adpub.com. He sells MAFs for a good price, from what I hear. I have had contact with him but we haven't discussed pricing yet.
You might as well try cleaning it first, some rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and a q-tip should do the trick, just be very careful. Let it dry for a while and put it back in. The MAF casing is in there pretty good so you might need a standard (or flathead) screwdriver to pry it out but again, be very careful.
