Monsterflow filter problems

I have a 2002 6SPD

I got my monterflow foam air filter with my PR CAI. I have many problems with this filter:

1) After washing my car I took the filter off of the intake tubing in the fender wall and found quite a bit of water sitting in the filter. When I took the filter off the water poured out leaving a puddle at my feet.

2) After about 2,000 miles my MAF blew and I contribute this to the horrible design of the filter.

3) My cars performance has noticable decreased after about 7,000 miles with the filter on.

4) Foam should not be used to make an air filter. PR racing obviously doesn't care about the reprecutions of using a foam filter they care about the extra little bit of air the foam lets in. Well, if I were to use this logic I should just use no filter for even better performance.

5) DO NOT USE THIS FILTER. YOUR ENGINE WILL ABSORB MORE WATER THAN IT KNOWS WHAT TO DO WITH AND YOU WILL BLOW YOUR MAF.

I know Maximas have problems with their MAFS in the first place but it was no coincidence that my maf blew after a couple thousand miles. This car has been babied in the two years it has been "living"

My car now occasionally hesitates under hard acceleration only for a fraction of a second. It is not very noticable but I think my MAF could be going again.

THANKS PLACE RACING

Please let me know your input guys and could somebody tell me the best place to buy a K&N filter. Also what are the specs I need to know which one to get,

Mark

Blew my MAF with K&N cone. Blew my MAF with K&N dropin. Blew my MAF with MonsterFlow. It isn't a coincidence. Our MAF's are prone to brakage, period. No one filter is going to blow a MAF any faster than another. I checked my MonsterFlow monthly and also noticed water on the top of the filters housing, not in the filter. This water isn't being ingested through your intake. It sits on the top of the filter until braking or cornering throws it off.

As far as your interpretation on power loss. Please back up your claims. How fast your car seems to you is very subjective and too many variables, ie. intake temp, himidity etc..., can be the cause.

Good luck with your new K&N. I hope your impressions are better. I personally "felt" no gain at all with either filter although I can't prove my suspicions. I through them both out. At least they were free.

Also, check the GD forums. They have the cone style K&N's for $30.

I am in Georgia and the weather is always the same. 90+ degrees. I have had many K&N filters and they seem to require less frequent maintaince to maintain performance.

Sorry for the bad outlook but this is the first and only time I will ever buy a filter made out of foam. Also you going threw that many MAFS is just not right. I don't care what anybody says you should not go through MAFS like that no matter what. IF I was you I would write Nissan and send them documentation. If I ever go through multiple MAFS I will personally drop the car off at Nissan's steps

Thanks for the input

They were all covered under warranty. So it was not that big a deal. I know of several other people that have blown thier MAF without any intake or aftermarket filter. I wish you luck with the new filter.

If you keep the actual intake tubing, put a bead of of silicone where the tube runs by the fender. Not only is it simi-flexable, but it will keep most of the water fromrunning down onto the cone filter.

thanks for the advice. I just wanted to warn other people they should probably opt for a K&N filter. The monsterflow is almost like a glorified Weapon-R filter
