Clutch issues on Y2K

I have a Y2K 5-speed that has had clutch issues since I bought it 20K miles ago. The grab points very each time I push it in. Also, there has been times when I will push it in and there is no resistance except the spring holding the pedal up and it is hard to get in or out of gear. Then the other extreme will happen and it is incredibly stiff, grap point is way out and the clutch will slip. It is possible that this changes every time I push in the clutch. It sucks to drive because I never know when the clutch will engage or disengage. I am also tearing up my clutch becasue when I think it is at the point to grab it doesnt and I end up riding my clutch. I have replaced the master cylinder (no result) and will try replacing the slave cylinder this weekend. Anybody else had this problem?

Yea...I replaced the slave and the master and bled both from the slave valve w/ new fluid. I am still having problems. I think I need a new clutch. That is the last thing on a very simple hydraulic system. By the way I bought an after market slave and had to shave down right side of the slave cylinder to make the bolt holes line up. Paid $25 for an after market slave, it might be worth paying for a Nissan slave for the trouble. I think I might be having a problem with a bearing in my clutch. Clutch parts are cheap. What is the cost to have the engine and trans dropped to get the clutch worked on?? At least the car is not immobile....but it pisses me off to drive. Has no one had these problems??

I have a 2000 Max as well and i know what ya mean.
Well i haven't quite had the problems that you are explaining to that full degree, but i do feel no resistance at times and other times its kinda stiff. I hope mine doesnt get the way yours has become and yeah it does **** me off. I usually just take it out of gear for a couple seconds, pump the clutch pedal like 2 times and it works fine again.
Let me know if ya figure out what it def is.

I kinda find that the grab point varies, but after 120K km it's still silky smooth. It seems to pick up lower (pedal pushed further in) when the car is hot. I have no idea if it's normal. I have gotten used to it.
