that are being left on the lip of the trunk? The paint actually seems to be all scratched along the lip. I felt underneath my trunk lid and sure enough theare 2 little "dots" on the inside of the lid that match up perfectly with my 2 white marks. Looks like absolute crap on my Gray Lustre....looked at my co-workers Sunlit Sand models and while he doesn't have the 2 marks(of course his Max is perfect compared to mine, not a engine mount squeak, rattle etc to be heard) he does have the little scratches or rub marks along the lip.

Whats up with this? Are the trunks ill fitted? I can only think that the white lines and scratches are coming from the lid flexing up and down as you drive down the road....

Check it out...bet there is something on your lip

Errrr...the lip of your trunk that is

Mine too

There is the exact same thing on my black max and it looks like crap. I know that there were posts about it in the general section, but I was too lazy to got through all the pages looking for it. I will probably take it to my dealer and see line of bull they try to sell me. It looks really bad and I feel the same 'dots' you described. It ticked me off. Oh, well.

well Its hard to explain...

lift your trunk lid....run you fingers across the inside edge...if you have these "dots" you'll feel them...almost like its dried paint or something(which it isnt)Sort of like where Nissan said "Ok welds stop here" and left a bump or 2.

They are little bumps that evidently rub on the lip thus causing the white marks. Count yourself blessed if they are not there...problem seems to show up on the darker cars more(at least the ones I've noticed)

Re: well Its hard to explain...

I think I started the first bmoc thread in the general discussion a few weeks ago. I have the gray se and a good deaL of the paint on the LIP on the top of the bumper that contacts the inside bottom of the trunk lid is scraped off. To make things even more wonderful, the scratches show a slight rust color on the bumper, which is strange considering the bumper is plastic. This leads us to the trunk lid. The wonderful dealer (Frost Nissan in Newton, MA)told me this was "normal". I told them I would contact Nissan and see what they think, but I have not done so yet. That dealer also just refinished my rear bumper cause one of their guys backed into another car and they gave me a free front end alignment as well, which I needed. Unfortunately the car now pulls to the left instead of the right...... Bringin it back in Friday. Better still be free.....

Frost Nissan. HA HA HA.

Don't even start me with Frost Nissan.
They have been fixing my damaged front right strut mount for about three months now. Still not fixed.

And I have that same thing on the lip of the rear bumper that touches the trunk. I have some scratches right in the middle of the lip.

Damn those Nissan peps make me mad.

;(

Whats up with the MA Nissan dealers?

I hear what you are saying MassMax...my dealer has actually gotten a wee bit better(Kelly Nissan in Beverly) but nothing great. Sounds like dany is getting the run around with Quirk.

My SE is Gray also and these marks look like crap. I am having a Nissan Field Engineer look at my car next week for the squeaky mounts and my rattles.(I hope) I'm going to point out the white marks also and see what he says...

Actually I have been try to fix my car with Forst Nissan,

cause they are closer to where I work.
Quirk was a freaking bad place from the begining. When I got the car there, I had some different problems and they didn't do anything about it.

Buttom line, very unsatisfied with all the build quality and service that Nissan offers.

Yeah of course there are some nice things about the car. Engine, transmision is ok(I have 5-speed). Other than that, not impressed at all. ;(

So far i feel pretty lucky

OK. Are you all referring to the slight bump found on either side of the trunk lid right near the bottom bend of the trunk lid? (if i remember thats where I found them). I have no scratches on my bumper in that area. Could be I have no trunk spoiler which adds the extra weight? I have a little paint chipping here and there, but its nothing im too worried about. Who knows, maybe in time I'll develop the rus you guys are talking about, but so far my Max has been pretty spot on, with the exception of the shaking wheel when braking which I am attributing to the rotors and will have fixed soon. Oh, and the Service Engine Light soon which went out after i started adding better gasoline and higher ocatane (I was an idiot and did not read the manual )

I read another post about rain noise??? It was pouring here the other day and i didn't notice any water sounds through my car. the build quality of my car has not disappointed me yet.

I'm

sure the extra weight of the spoiler does contribute to movement of the trunk "flexing" up and down when on the road.

In my mind another build quality issue that Nissan let "slip" by.
