Shell VPower.....

Has anyone used this new premium unleaded? Has it made any difference to be worth the extra 4 or 5 cents compared to other stations? I still hate the fact that I can only get a max 91 octane here in OK...sucks.

Yes, that does suck. I'm in OKC, and I think it's ridiculous that we can't get 93 here...add it to the list of things Oklahoma DOESN'T have.

Is that the crap that's supposed to give you more mileage? I looked at their website a while back and in small print I figured out that the increase in mileage is about 1%, so no, it's not worth the extra money. If shell, in their own study, can't get more than 1-2%, then in reality it's really negligible.

ok i tried that shell V-power crap.. Def lost milage i went down to about 130 for a half tank from my ussual (with 93 premium) 170 so no no way in hell is that shell **** worth the money.. and the performance really sucks on it, car feels really weighted down when its in the tank. ( not cause its heavier but just because it gives no performance)

Ya, no kidding....I guess I will just go ahead and stick with Conoco premium since here in Norman we don't have much else to choose from after Conoco/Phillips and Shell.

dunno what the reason is....but those days 93 is brought down same price as 89- which is cheaper than 93 any other place so I take a fill those days

Although my fav gas is Amoco Ultimate 93- i find it to give me best mileage and overall performance

Well i have a friend that is a chemical engineier for shel (not in the fuel department) but he looked into it and it is suppossed to keep your injectors clean and like some of you said barely increase your mpg. It is actually a patent of tTexaco's that Shell acquiered when they bought out Texaco. The guy said you would only notice diffrences in your vehicle over a very extended period of time, he stated that it is just another marketing tool.

The differences between brands of gas are only the additives in the gas. Go with what you think is the best. Just make sure it is the highest octane you can get. As for the crappier gas mileage that I30swimmer got, was that on one tank? You do need to do this comparison over several tanks for it to be legitimate.

my choices are marathon, amoco, shell, and sunoco.

she was pinging on shell, so i switched to amoco. with all the hype of new shell v-power, i tried it. i like it. no pinging, and i gained 30 miles to the tank. i recommend it if your choices of gas are the same as mine.

93 Octane

You can check out the Sinclair's gas stations in our area . Almost all of them have 93 octane. That's all my H22 Accord has been running on for the last 3 years, with no problems. Usually, their 93 is as cheap or cheaper than the other gas station's 91 octane.

This is an ongoing issue, the difference between brands does not effect your gas milage as much as how hard you drive your car. I thought texaco was bought or merged with Cheveron, not Shell. Shell and BP where under one umbrella. As to the Vpower, just saying they reformulated their permium gas with different, maybe same additives, does it help keep your injectors clean? Who knows, but I bet a bottle of STP Fuel Injection Cleaner is probably the same, you can actually feel the difference from the seat of your pants, but that is not a very scientific measure either.

If you really got 30 miles more with a tank of v-power than another 91+ octane gasoline, it can almost all be attributed to either poor measuring or difference in driving. That is a gain of almost 10%, and v-power absolutely, unequivocally, and conclusively cannot do that.
