Engine hesitation

I'm having problems at 3500-4000 rpms. feels like car's hitting a wall of air. Engine looses power and it starts slowlly regaining it past 4200 rpms. I check the variable intake. It does open and close. anyone had the similar problem?

Someone else had this problem in the 2000-3000 rpm range. They said their mechanic told them it was a busted maf due to an over oiled k&n filter.

Is it continual or just a little blip here and there? There was a thread recently -should still be at the top somewhere in either the 4th,5th or general forums - addressing this issue.

It's only hesitates between 3500 and 4000 jsut a blip, after that it's fine. I had clutch replaced this weekend. TB is clean. I clean it twice a year. I order a new MAF from David B.
