HIDs stolen

Hey guys!! I had the Xenons stolen out of my I35 on Sunday. Anyone have any tips to prevent this? I was thinkinhg a high-end alarm, but these lights can get yanked in under 2 mins. Plus, noone pays attention to alarms anyway. I know Maxima drivers have been dealing with this for a while so, if I'm wasting your time just direct to the link that covered this. Thanks

I feel your pain bro. Check with Infiniti to see if you qualify for the Data Dots recall they did for all northeast 02-03 Max's.

The design of the I35 HIDs should be identical to that of the 02-03 Maxima. If you live in the NE, call Infiniti/Nissan corporate in California and ask them to do the datadots/brackets for your I35 free of charge. If they value customers, they should do it gratis.

And as for those who do not have 5.5 gen Maximas and want HIDs, you are asking for trouble and should not be heard to complain if they are stolen.

I35 headlight setup is pretty much the same exact as the maximas. Only reason why they are not stolen as often is because i believe they are not standard option. So they got 50/50 chance.

I think all 02/03 I35s come standard with HIDs. No reason why the "lower" class Maxima would have standard HIDs but not the I35.

00-01 I30's which look nearly identical had HID as an option. Guess the thieves caught onto the fact that the "I35" nameplate = standard HID.

what a shame....I always thought a good idea would be to have a metal "box" of sorts custom made to surround the entire headlight (the box would epoxy to the back lip of the lens and surround the whole back end so nobody could unscrew it or wedge a crowbar in there)....just leave an opening in the back of the box for bulb changes. Yeah, it would make it really hard for you to get the lights out, but how often do you take the entire headlight out, really.

I'd love to try it, but I have the good-ol halogens so not gonna waste my time. On the other hand...if someone wants to give me some HIDs, I will be sure to get something fabricated and share the knowledge/design with everyone else

Just a thought - might want to contact Matt93SE (matt blehm) and see if perhaps he can fabricate something like that...he's pretty damn good at fabrication and design and on his website he says he's willing to take on projects if nobody else is doing them....

Any car with HID's is susceptible to theft. Porche lights are supposedly even easier to steal than Maximas. Acura has the same problem as the Maximas. BMW, Mercedes, Audi and even Suburu owners have had their lights stolen. You can't have anything nice in this society without some low-life scheming of ways to take it away from you.
