BTW, is it possible to do these yourself, say, if you have access to a universal wheel bearing puller kit and a hammer? I noticed a universal kit costs ~$450, but I wonder if any tool stores could rent one to me...
(not 100% sure if I have a bad wheel bearing, but things are pointing towards it... I'm receiving a dial runout gauge kit this week from ebay that I'm going to use to confirm)

I'm referring to kits like this-- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43995

(also a similar product available here: http://www.etoolcart.com/browseprodu...--OTC7946.HTML )
Maybe I should find a mechanic who has one of those sets. It'd probably make the job cheaper since it wouldn't require nearly as much labor as removing the whole damn knuckle...

If you can work with tools, you could probably do this from 50-150 yourself. All that needs to be done is.

1. Remove wheel.
2. Remove 1 nut and remove steering rod.
3. Remove 1 nut and (you need a fork for this) pry ball joint from steering rack.
4. Remove 2 bolts holding caliper in place (move out of way with hanger)
5. Remove giant center nut. Remove rotor.
6. Pull out the hub, and take it to a machine shop (with or without the bearing, i dont know if your local machine shop would carry the bearing) (mine did)

Cost of repair for me was ~230. But that is because I drove with a broken bearing for a while (and on the highway) and it ruined the outer and inner seals. 30 to press the bearing. 30 for the bearing. And the rest was for the stupid hub
