I am going to be buying a 2002 Maxima in the next week or two

I have already test driven a 2002 White GLE at the dealership, my dad's buddy is a salesman there. The sticker is $20k with 37k miles on it. I'm sure I can talk him down a couple grand, and I'll be using my own financing.
Is there anything I should know or check for before deciding on a particular car? I'm pretty set on that GLE because it has all the goodies and whatnot, but my next door neighbor is pretty in with the used car crowd and frequents the big auctions, so I asked him to check how much he can get a 2k2 for.
This will be my second car, I had a 88 RX-7 for about 5 years that served me well but it was rearended and is going to be totalled. I'm still fighting with their insurance company on getting the money that was put into it out of it.
Ok folks, enlighten me

I personally went with the manual just because I like shifting myself. the autos have been putting down some good numbers though too. An 02 Max is a completely different car than your old RX-7. You should be able to get the car for ~17,000. There are a lot of them on www.cars.com and www.autotrader.com Good luck.

I would definately try to talk them down to around $15K. They are asking too much (IMO). The basic warranty is expired as well (36K).

Greekmax - ti ginetai re? auto ---> 6-speed is a great plan! The car has a completely different character to it.

Since the warrnanty expired at 36k miles, you should try to get the car certified with an extended warranty for peace of mind. I have an 03 GLE (fully loaded), and the odometer just turned 10k last week.

Yaeh. I paid 21k for a 2002 Maxima SE (everything but cold weather package and and a nav system), 12k miles on it w/ an extended warranty back in January 2003. I would definitely not pay 20k for that GLE...
