This may not be of the Technical service list for your cars

but it would be nice to have for informative information. I installed the Hayden tranny cooler # 404 on my car yesterday. And I thought that it would be hard but isnt. Everyone may seem to think that messing with the transmission hoses , they might mess something up. Well, I thought the same way but it wasnt hard at all. I had to modify certain plastic things for my 88 but its a great addition whether you are driving hard or not. Its a great small investment (49.00 at Pepboys with all hardware included) that will save you alot of money in the end.

I woke up today just to look at it. Its pretty cool having it. Its an easy job. For some reason I guess some may see it and they are like man I dont want to mess with anything dealing with the transmission I might mess something up. Its not hard. Just mount the tranny cooler going vertical or horizontal. You may want to connect the hoses on first then install so you wont be messing with small space to put them on. Then find which hose is your return and which one is the feed to the radiator. After doing that connect a hose to the return line (fluid going back to the transmission) to the cooler. Then, connect the other hose going from the cooler to the Transmission. This way the coolest fluid gets to the transmission. Mount the Cooler in front of the radiator to get 100% air flow and cooling. There are other places to mount it but would restrict the amount of air flow and cooling done. Then after checking for leaks, Turn the car on and leave in park, now check the fluid level. You will need to add about an extra 2 Quarts to compensate for the extra travel and space. After that turn the car back on and leave in park again and check the fluid level it should be full. Dont over fill there is a such thing as too much ATF. After youve filled the transmission up since you lost some fluid and ran the car with less than it had and added some. While the car is on, press the brake down and run through the gears at a stand still to make sure that all the gears are fine and all is working. Id say leave the car in each gear for about 10 seconds. Then that should complete the process and you are ready to drive. Youll notice a bit of difference in shifting and in mine I have notice that on highway speeds the transmission feels like its getting more of a bite or something. But that will complete the Whole Hayden 404 tranny cooler install. See its not hard at all. It also comes with instructions so they should help you also, if needed. Good luck! And have fun!
