Drop for 02 GLE
Drop for 02 GLE
I have conducted a search to find information on springs, but have been unsuccessful. So, can someone please tell me what type of springs (drop amount) that I need for my 02 GLE. I am looking at retaining my stock 17" wheels, but that huge gap in the front fender well has got to go. I have visited some of the vendor sights, but don't want to make a newbie mistake by ordering before asking. Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks. Thats exactly where I went and ended up ordering the H&R springs yesterday. I also ordered a colgan bra to help protect the new paint thats going on this week. Now if I can figure out how to get all the pitting out of the headlights from all the road debris. I'm not sure what new ones cost, but I'm sure they are not cheap.
Are you dropping it on stock struts? Unless you're really low on miles and intend to do that later anyway, I don't recommend you that. I was about to do the same, but our GLEs don't have the stiffness of the SE stock setup, so what Housecor's site calls "closest to stock ride" is not said with GLEs in mind. You might get a nice drop, but the stock shocks won't absorb every bump the way aftermarket ones do, so you you'll end up with a lowered car with bad handling. But on the other hand, if you've already decided to go aftermarket, you'll be parting with your comfy ride.
at first i went with H&R's on stock struts. I could only tolerate the ride for about 4 days before i ordered up my illumina's. individual bumps are't too bad but when you hit more than one consecutive bump, the car would bounce pretty roughly. it sucked for anything but highway driving.
So it sounds like I need to go ahead and order new struts before the spring install? You guys are going to cause me to spend money just like my Harley Truck site! On a side note, my buddy with his Harley truck last night ran a 7.7 @ 89mph in the 1/8th....not too shabby for 5500lbs!
that's 160 for ONE front and 115 for ONE rear strut..
add it up, and ur gonna end up paying 550 altogether, which is pretty garbage
here it is for 435 shipped
