Please help with this annoying light !!!
My dads 2002 Maxima GLE
when u apply the brake bedal
the light comes on - showing front/rear light - as in the owners manual book says a bulb is out
one bulb was out we changed it , and when u apply the brake its still on this damn light
any idea how to clear this annoying light ? or what else it could be ?
all the brake fluid levels are good
i unplugged the battery and after plugging it in , it still comes on
its only when u apply the brake

I believe the way the lamp sensor works is that it senses the amount of current when you illuminate the brake lamps or the tail (rear running) lamps. If the current is too low it will assume that a bulb is burned out. The sensor doesn't need to be reset - when you replace the bulb it should be happy. The sensor is an electrical unit mounted on the back sheet metal wall of the trunk near the trunk opener solenoid.
1) Are you sure you put in the correct-wattage bulb - it should not be brighter or dimmer than on the other side.
2) The bulb is a combo brake/tail. It has two filaments. There are pins on the bulb base that engage the slots on the socket at different heights, but if you force the bulb in, you may manage to put it into the socket the wrong way. You will be lighting up the "brake" filament (brighter) when you put on the running lights and the "tail" filament (dimmer) when you put on the brakes. This will cause the same effect as #1.

i am sure i put the correct bulbs in , all the lights look the same brightness, this damn light continues to stay on 
nissan dealer wants straight time to diagnose this electrical problem
